10 Reasons to Shop Kelly’s Closet BEFORE Black Friday

I know you’re all dying to know what our Black Friday specials and deals will be, but we can’t tell you yet.  We can’t reveal most of the offers until Thanksgiving or Black Friday.  I know that Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buys all reveal their deals ahead of time, but as a small business we just can’t tell you anything until they are revealed.  I thought it would be fun to give you a list of 10 reasons you should shop with us BEFORE Black Friday!!   1. (Almost) Everything you want is in stock!  That’s right, we’re almost fully stocked and actually stocked up a LOT more than usual.  We will have a few last minute items stocking early in the week, but we won’t be restocking between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.  That means if you see something you REALLY want to get and you’ll be devastated if it’s out of stock, then maybe shopping early is for you! 2. Super Speedy Shipping!  Chances are that if you place your order with us on Monday or Tuesday that your order will be packed and shipped super fast! We’re pretty well caught up on shipping and processing is usually just 1-2 days at the beginning of the week.  We can’t say the same thing later in the week since we’re closed early on Wed and off on Thanksgiving.  The number …

Tips on Buying Used Cloth Diapers

As a Fluff Moderator on the Cloth Diaper Support Group on Facebook, I find myself troubleshooting and answering some of the same questions over and over again. These foundational questions are very important, ranging from “help, my diapers stink!” to “is this amount of money a good price for this used diaper?” Although I love to support Kelly’s Closet, I’ve also purchased diapers used locally. Buying used does have many benefits. If you are new to cloth diapers, buying used helps you to try out several different brands without having to pay for a new diaper. It is also a good way to grow your stash if you are just starting out. But watch out, sometimes buying used diapers is more trouble than it is worth. Make sure you’ve done your homework before looking at used diapers so you don’t buy on a whim and regret it later. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking at used cloth diapers. Do your research!  What brand is the diaper?  How does that brand rate in the cloth diaper world? What are its ratings online?  What is their retail value?  Do as much research as possible and ask the seller as many questions as you can.  I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard a mom say that she purchased “china cheapies” from craigslist thinking it was …

Daily Diapers-Just the Plain Ol’ Basics

When you make the decision to use cloth diapers, it can seem very overwhelming. Until now, the daily diapers that your baby wore were an afterthought, and something that didn’t take a whole lot of effort. Besides the different brands, there wasn’t really a whole lot to learn. With cloth diapers, the options seem staggering. Below you will find some frequently asked questions about purchasing, using, and caring for your cloth diapers. How many daily diapers do I need? The answer to this question will depend largely on the age of your baby. For example, newborns use more daily diapers than toddlers. A newborn baby may need to be changed as many as a dozen times per day, especially if you are breastfeeding. Older babies may only require you to change them 4-6 times per day. To determine how many cloth diapers to purchase, decide how often you will want to wash. For example, if you have a newborn, and only want to wash twice a week, three or four dozen diapers are recommended. What type of cloth diaper is best for me?There are four main types of cloth diapers. A prefold diaper is the old fashioned type that needs to be folded and pinned. These require a separate waterproof cover. This type of diaper is best for those on a budget, being the most affordable. A fitted diaper is shaped …
