DiaperShops.com Rocks the Stevie Awards as a Finalist in Two Categories!

We are thrilled to share with you that DiaperShops.com has been named as a finalist in two Stevie Awards for Women in Business categories. The Stevie Awards recognizes our blog for our honest and authentic commitment to bringing unbiased, educational information to moms who are considering or currently using cloth diapers. Congrats to FuzziBunz and GroVia for earning the coveted Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) Seal of Approval

These days, there are many seals of approvals and awards to be had, some more meaningful than others. This week, I was thrilled to see the announcement of the some of the latest PTPA winners and even more excited to see that two of my manufacturers have yet again gained the PTPA seal of approval. Hats off to the FuzziBunz One-Size Cloth Diaper and the GroVia Cloth AIO Diaper! I know of the rigorous testing you went through and I applaud your achievement. For those of you unfamiliar, PTPA Media provides an objective framework for appraising and promoting new products designed to enrich family living. The company’s mission is to marry innovative companies with discerning consumers, to improve families’ access to quality products and services. All products are tested rigorously by an independent panel of parent volunteers who evaluate these products in their own homes. When I see this seal on a particular product, it is quite meaningful, as I know that PTPA goes out directly to the consumers of these products to test them. This is important and helpful to me when I source for only the BEST products to bring to you. No fancy marketing gimmicks, just tried and true! Gro Baby: Parent Tested, Parent Approved!

One of our popular selling brands of diapers, Gro Baby™ (made by The Natural Baby Co.) recently announced that it was awarded the Parent Tested, Parent Approved (PTPA) Media Award! This award was not only given to the Gro Baby One Size Diapering System, but also to the company’s shells, soaker pads and boosters. The PTPA Media Awards honor products only after they are vigorously tested by parents. Only products that pass muster are given the PTPA award. Gro Baby has also announced their Gro Baby BioSoakers are officially U.S. Patent Pending. BioSoakers are disposable pads that line your baby’s cloth diapers (the backside of the BioSoaker is sticky, so it stays in place inside your diaper’s shell). Gro Baby BioSoakers are biodegradable, compostable, plastic and chlorine free… and now, patent-pending! Let your little grow with Grow Baby!

Knickernappies One Size Diaper: iParenting Media Winner!

Knickernappies One Size Diaper is a proud winner of the 2009 Best Products Award from iParenting Media! What goes into creating an award-winning diaper? Come behind the scenes with me for a moment. I’ve owned Knickernappies for about 4 years. My husband works with me and together we wear all of the hats: packing, shipping, designing, sourcing, customer service, etc. Two years ago, we were ready to create a One Size diaper. But since our diaper is side-snapping, this presented some unique challenges for designing a one-size-fits-all diaper. On our kitchen table, I set up my sewing machine and cranked out sample after sample. After about 10 prototypes, over the course of a year, I had a pattern that I was ready to take to our sew shop for a professional prototype. We went through another five or six prototypes over 6 months. First the snaps were way too high and interfered with the side snaps. Then the snaps were way too low and just looked uncomfortable for baby. We got the snap placement just perfect, but I really wanted a top-stitched diaper. Those look so clean and finished…but we had elastic on the belly and that interfered with the fit if it was top-stitched. Around and around we went, tweaking and testing. Our local testers used a variety of prototypes and gave us valuable feedback on what they liked …
