Love Notes: 6 Reasons Why We Love Thirsties and You Will Too!

It never fails. Every time. No matter what diapers are on top, we always dig through and find a Thirsties cloth diaper. Not only are they my favorite, these diapers are the top pick for both my husband and mother-in-law too! We love so many things about Thirsties brand diapers! When we started our cloth diapering journey sixteen months ago, we only had four Thirsties diapers and now after trying so many other brands, we still keep reaching for them over all the others. Here are the six big reasons why Thirsties diapers are our favorite and what keeps us coming back for more… The Company – Made in Colorado, we love that they are made in the USA, even down to the packaging they come in. On top of that, 90% of the fabrics and materials that are used to make these high quality diapers are sourced in the USA. Their customer service is exceptional and they are so helpful with any questions and concerns! Returned diapers are repaired (if possible) and then donated to families in need. They recycle all their scrap material and have a 100% windpowered warehouse they distribute their diapers from. The Choices – Everyone has a favorite style of diaper. My husband loves the ease and fit of hook and loop. I love using natural fibers on our baby’s bum. We prefer covers and …

It’s Just a Load of Laundry

When your expecting there are so many choices; however on ever essentials list is diapers. I spent my pregnancy reading about cloth diapering. I knew that I wanted to cloth diaper for many reasons, but the ultimate reason was that it was healthier for baby. We didn’t know if we were expecting a little boy or girl as we waited to discover the gender, but there are some pretty incredible reasons to cloth diaper both genders. For boys it helps to ensure their genitals are kept at a temperature that is safe, and for little girls it helps to limit UTIs. For both it helps to reduce incidence of diaper rash. Best of all cloth diapers are so much cuter while being more cost effective also. For us it was an easy choice. One of the things that seemed so varied in my reading was when people started cloth diapering. Some use disposables in the hospital, others cloth from the first diaper. Some wait until they fit in one size, others jump in with newborn diapers. I want to encourage you that you can do this from birth if you want to. Meconium doesn’t stain but if you are really worried you can use a liner. In my experience cloth diapering my little, the liner was more trouble than it was worth and all the stains come out easy. You …

Geffen Baby Insider: Prefolds & Absorbers

There are so many things to love about Geffen Baby products. They are made in the USA, affordable, and made using natural fibers. Cloth diapering can be such an investment with many families suffering from a bit of sticker shock. So it’s nice to find a USA brand that has quality and affordable products! Two of my favorite Geffen Baby products are the jersey hemp prefolds and the absorbers. We have used these products with a toddler and a newborn. The jersey hemp prefolds are so absorbent and such an affordable nighttime solution. I love how soft they are as well! With my toddler, these were great trifolded in a cover and lasted us 12+ hours overnight with no leaks! And the quick absorbers were my favorite microfiber replacement in all of my pocket diapers. I love how trim they make every diaper without sacrificing absorbency. On my newborn, the jersey hemp prefolds were the perfect solution when he started sleeping longer stretches at night. My baby was too tiny for most one-size diapers, but as he started wetting more and sleeping longer stretches, most newborn diapers couldn’t make it as long as we needed without leaks. The newborn absorbers were also the perfect solution to keep us in newborn diapers as long as we needed! Being a preemie, we used our newborn stash for the first 6 months of …

Fun Songs to Sing to Your Baby

Singing to our babies as we rock them to sleep is one of the sweetest bonding moments we can have. It’s comforting to our children to hear mommy or daddy’s voice as they drift off to sleep and is a beneficial part of any bedtime routine. But it’s so easy to get stuck in a rut and sing Rock a Bye Baby night after night. What other options are there? Traditional Lullabies: These songs are from all over the world and are the first to come to mind when we think of lullabies. They’ve been around for generations and are great songs to know. You are my Sunshine Rock a Bye Baby Hush little baby Twinkle Twinkle Lullaby and Goodnight (Brahm’s Lullaby) Sleep My Baby (Suo Gan – Welsh Lullaby) I Gave My Love a Cherry (The Riddle Song) Modern Lullabies: Many of today’s artists have recorded some beautiful lullabies and other soothing songs. Their song titles aren’t the most creative, but the songs are gorgeous. Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) – Billy Joel Lullaby Song – Dixie Chicks Lullaby Song – Newton Faulkner The Long Day is Over – Norah Jones Lullaby Song – Ben Folds Songs from Movies and TV: It surprising just how many lullabies you can find in movies, particularly Disney. And since many of us were 80’s and 90’s babies, you probably already know them by …
