I haven't tried flats but I want to because they seem like they would be easy to wash.

  4. I have a dozen flats and plan on using them to start off because they are adjustable for whatever size baby I end up with I also am going to keep a set of flats and a camp style washer with an extra bag of soap in the closet In Case of Emergencies like hurricane power outage or road trips

I have never tried flats but I have been thinking about it.

  6. I've always just had pockets, recently used prefolds on my newborn but I'm trying to expand my cd experience and try other types. My goal is to participate in the flats challenge next year.

I haven't tried flat diapers. As a new mom, they kind of intimidate me. But I like that it seems like you can make a flat diaper out of anything–old receiving blankets, t-shirts, etc.

I've never tried a flat – prefold was my biggest stretch!

never tried a flat – perfolds were my biggest step outside my AIO comfort zone (so far…)

I love flats! I love to fold them up and use them as pocket inserts, or I use them coverless for spray-free air time when we have rashes.

    Never tried flats before.

  19. I've never tried flats, but we use prefolds & covers exclusively so I think that's close enough. :)

I Have tried flats before, and I'm not too well versed in their folds, but they do wonders for keeping the bum aired when LO has a rash!

I would love to try some flats! I'd love to take them on a vacation since they seem very forgiving as far as a washing routine (using someone else's washer) and I could even handwash if needed. Also, they take up less room.

Haven't tried flats yet, but I hear they are wonderful. Looking forward to trying them with our newest addition.

I haven't tried flats- they intimidate me! Plus, I have a very heavy wetter and I'm afraid to try something new that might not hold as much. But I supposed it's worth a try. :)

My mom gave me the flats she used when I was a baby. I have to say they are so much better than todays flats you buy in the stores. I liked them better than my prefolds as well.

I have never tried flat diapers, but I like that they are easy to wash and are very absorbent.

  39. Maitri Nachuri said...

Flats have been my mainstay since the birth of my baby four months ago. I had not done much research on cloth diapers and had hurriedly grabbed the store brand flats when my baby was erupting in rashes with the disposable ones. They have been very versatile combined with econobum and other diaper covers I sewed after. Will repurpose them as soakers in AIO's which I plan to sew next.

We love flats in our house they dry quick and wash clean so easy :)I recommend them to everyone who wants to get started :)

  45. Elizabeth Borer said...

I have tried flat diapers and I am still hesitant to use them. I have used the flats as doublers in my other diapers but I am afraid they will not be as absorbent as I am used to! I think they would help my diaper routine greatly in that they would be much easier to pack and take along with me, and they would be easier to clean because I can bleach them and put them in the dryer. I have a lot of flats and am hoping to use them more often once I get the courage!

  46. Jill said...

I have flats that I use inside all my pocket diapers now. Since they unfold in the wash (like a tea towel) they get super clean and don't hold stinkies!

I haven't used flats but I am interested… perhaps I'll give it a shot if we have another baby. Sounds like a great option for a newborn/younger baby that goes through a ton of diapers.

  64. No, I haven't. I'm happy with pockets and AIOs, so I might not ever try them.

I have never tried flats, but I love my prefolds. I like the versatility of flats and feel like they could be repurposed easily after we are done with diapering. There are so many things to try within cloth diapering! I think I would need to have a couple of more kids to get to everything.

  107. Chelsey said...

I have never tried flats, but if they are easy to use like the prefolds I have tried, I would love to try them! The prefolds are easier to wash so I would assume so would the flats.

I haven't tried flats, but I recently made some back-up t-shirt diapers. They're the same weight of cotton as the average commercial flats I've seen online, but I left them in a loop so they're easier to fold!

I used flats when my daughter was a newborn and I paired them with a rumparooz newborn cover. They required more frequent changes, but I didn't mind. I would use flats during the day and pocket diapers for overnight. I was able to stretch my budget a lot further. I've never tried flats. I think they'd be a fun challenge (folding them), but make washing easier.

  198. I have not tried flats, but I use prefolds so I think I'd like flats also

  199. i have 3 bamboo flats, which i use stuffed in a pocket diaper. all the folds are confusing, but they are absorbent and dry quick.

I was diapered in flats as a baby, but since I'm new to cloth diapering, I've never tried one myself. I can say that flats are very versatile and fit a wide range of sizes, and after they've finished their life as a diaper, they make excellent dust rags!

we haven't tried flats but they would be great to have in our stash for emergencies when you might lose power or if baby is struggling with a yeast rash. Thankfully we've never faced either of these.

I have some flats. After cloth diapering two babies from birth to potty without ever trying flats I thought I'd check them out when our newest baby was born late last year. At first I didn't like them but after reading reviews and comments on how easy they are to wash and dry and how trim they can be I decided to give them another try. I was starting to think they were too much trouble to fold until someone suggested pre-folding them and that they're no more trouble to pre-fold than it is to stuff a pocket diaper and that was sort of a light bulb moment for me. I also found a video on youtube on how to get a tight fit and since then I like them. My problem now is I need a few more covers. DH uses pockets exclusively so I try to use the rest of our various stash including prefolds and of course, flats. I was considering taking the flat/handwashing challenge but I've got a lot of stressful stuff happening in my life right now so I'm going to try to simply utilize flats only that week but I'll be using my washer and dryer.

I haven't tried flats (or any cloth diaper) yet, but I'm pretty certain I want to go the cover route anyways. I suppose using flats would cut down on dryer time, since there are no extra layers that would need extra drying time.

We use flour sack towels and ikea burp cloths as flats and use them for travel. We rarely get leaks and its nice to not have any trouble shooting (is the fleece repelling, does the microfiber need to be tripped).

Yup we use flats, we have a really diverse stash so that we have options that work best for each situation. It is not unheard of to lose the power here for a couple days and be snowed in so we wanted to make sure we had an option that would be easily laundered.

I have never tried flats, but I placed an order with Kelly's Closet this week and got the special coupon to try the free flat and cover. I am not sure yet how I like cloth diapering especially since I just had my precious lil baby on Mother's Day and he is only 9 days old now. But so far I have started a small stach of several different types of diapers and I am still waiting to see what I like best.

I haven't tried flats – but I would imagine they would be pretty similar to a prefold. I didn't use many prefolds with my first baby, but now with my second he seems a little more sensitive to fibers/detergents and cotton prefolds have been my lifesaver. They wash so much easier (as I am sure flats would, too) and we have no more diaper rash! Yeah!!

I am an expectant mommy (due in less than a month now!) and have no experience with cloth diapering, though I am wholeheartedly for it. According to other mommies, flats are very easy on the wallet, versatile in function, and simple to care for. I will definitely add flats to my stash and try them out for myself.
