I use seventh generation diapers for longer trips with no access to laundry, and gro-via or gdiapers for shorter trips or those where I have access to a laundry machine of any kind. When we go visit my parents at their summer house this summer, I'll just bring cloth!

I'm expecting my first baby in June, so I haven't had to "travel" w/ baby yet. I was planning on using my cloth diapers and just carrying a wet bag in my diaper bag to put used diapers in. I will probably take my AIOs when out to make changing easier.

It depends on where we're going and for how long. If visiting friends with a washer, cloth diapers came with us. If going camping or staying at a hotel, we used our 7th Gen. disposables.

  41. Cricketina said...

If it's a short trip (less than 2-3 diaper changes) we take cloth. If it's a longer trip, we take sposies for now but we're trying to find a hybrid system we like.

My favorite for on the go is GroBaby shells with the GroBaby disposable inserts. I don't have any of the new GroVia line, but would love to give those a test run when we're out and about! I absolutely love the convenience of not having to bring soiled diapers back into the house, and I can rest easy knowing that they're biodegradable, safe for my baby, and safe for the earth. For wipes I just use washcloths and a squirt bottle filled with water and a few drops of essential oils. Cleans better than any commercial wipe I've ever seen!! Thank you for the opportunity to enter this contest!

When we're out and about – running errands or for an overnight – we use pocket diapers. The stay-dry liner keeps baby happier for longer and means less frequent changes. If we'll be gone for multiple days without laundry facilities, then I use disposables (I don't want to deal with ANY diaper washing – even the infrequent covers).

  174. Kelsey said...

What type (cloth, disposable,or hybrid) and brand of diaper system do you use when you travel with baby?

I try to use cloth during travel, it isn't any harder for me, but for relatives I always bring disposibles just in case. I would LOVE to try a hybrid diaper system too!

  175. Caryn said...

I use Bum Genius one size cloth diapers at home and when traveling. If we're going to be away, I usually use a biodegradable, flushable insert during the night so #2's are easy to deal with the next morning (just flush, no spraying necessary).

I just started cloth diapering less than a month ago, so we haven't traveled yet. But, I have a feeling we will do a mix of things depending on where we are going. When we visit family, we will do cloth while there and disposables at least for dd on the road (she can fill an overnight disposable in 4 hours, so cloth would mean stopping WAY too often). When we go other places, it will just depend on laundry facilities and the activities we have planned.

I use the Flip hybrid system, but I don't ever use the disposable inserts – for in the car I use the stay dry with a hemp thirsties doubler. We just put in about 24 hours of road time over the last two weeks and used cloth about half the time (on the way back from the beach, kiddo had some kind of crazy rash from the sand?chlorine?salt water? so we had to buy some sposies). I only partially used cloth at my dad's house since they have a front loader, which totally intimidated me, LOL.

Day outings, I use hybrids usually to cut down on the bulk in my bag (either GroBaby or BestBottoms)

Long trips, like we just flew from CA to MD and stayed a week, I brought all of my pockets, hybrids and fitteds.

I usually just avoid prefolds when I am out and about. And pockets are fine as long as I prestuff them.

I use my GroBaby {don't have any of the new GroVia's yet} and my Katydid pockets. For me, it's not always about what is simple {the pockets are not exactly ideal for travel, with having to stuff them and all}, but what is going to hold the most and keep baby as dry as possible before we can stop again.
I would love to try out the GroVia's seeing as I have already had experience with the GroBaby's.

What type (cloth, disposable,or hybrid) and brand of diaper system do you use when you travel with baby.

it depends on where we're going. if we're flying, we use 7th gen disposables in the airplane. changing cloth in that teeny bathroom is just a nightmare, in my experience! if we're going to the beach, i use disposables as well. anywhere else, and we just use our regular cloth diapers.

When we travel it depends. I really love our BG however I do find that thirsties and g-diapers are super easy as all I have to do is bring along inserts (cloth or disposable) and then if there is a poopy the lingers for the g-diaper wash out and I am not carrying around poo… also you can use flushable liners! its a win. at home we most use BG AIO's though.

However if possible, I rotate in some of my OLD style gro babies into the current rotation to last until it's time to go and then start fresh with my SNAP dipes for travel, because we are often traveling to see relatives and LOVE to show off her dipes under her dresses, and the snaps keep her from taking them off!

It depends on where I am traveling to. If I am going to a hotel or somewhere without laundry, then I do sposies. If I am going to my parents or my in laws, then I take my hybrids or whatever other diapers are ready to go. My faves- grobaby (grovia) and bg organics.

For 1-3 day trips, trusty BGs. For longer or plane trips, Huggies Pure and Natural or Seventh Generation disposables.

We frequently travel in the car 2hrs away and I even flew across country with DS in cloth. I just use my nighttime diaper and we've never had any embarrassing accidents. I frequently use BGOS or RaR pockets with a prefold and a hemp doubler. easy peasy!

  688. Kim said...

I use a disposable like huggies. I am wanting to fully convert to cloth!

When we travel, we use our normal diapers (Fuzzi Bunz) with an extra joey bunz hemp insert) We wetbag the dirty on and put on the clean-that simple. We always change in the back of the van at a restaurant, where there's a toilet for dumping and sink for rinsing!
