Fluff Friday Winner from Week 27 AND Twitter Winner !!!!! *** UPDATED ***

On our recent vacation to St.Barts I was so excited to use our swim diapers early then expected. In Maine the water just isn't warm enough to go swimming until the end of June.

My 11 month old Riley just loves his baths so I was assuming he would love the warm Caribbean water (I thought wrong- keep reading!) . I grabbed the Imse Vimse Swim Diaper in Size Large that we used at the older kids birthday swim party in February and went to the back room of the shop and pulled a Bummis Swim Pant in size Medium Sea Lions. Check...2 more items packed on my list.

Our first full day in St.Barts we woke up and had a wonderful breakfast. All sorts of homemade breads and croissants and the butter- was just divine! (No I didn't stay on my Weight Watchers diet!) After breakfast we went back to our room and changed. I put Riley in his new Bummis Swim Pant and we went to the pool which was overlooking the ocean. After finding a couple good lounge chairs with umbrellas to shield some of the hot sun and thoroughly applying the sunscreen Scott scooped up Riley and I trailed behind with the camera. Our little guy stood ankle deep in the pool and didn't want to go further. He just didn't want to go in...however I did get a couple of cute pics of him which was most important. I found the Bummis was very, very trim on him- like a glove. I am not sure in another few months he might try to pull it off as it does fasten with velcro but then again swim season in Maine is for only 2 months-June and July.

A couple of days later we went to a beautiful beach called Saline. This time Riley was sporting his Imse Vimse Swim Diaper in Black Lizard. He was in a size large which I really should have him in a medium. He now weighs just a hair over 20lbs. I do like that it is a pull on pant and wouldn't have to worry about him "stripping" off the diaper. Upon looking at the Imse Vimse Swim Diapers you would think that they are way to small but once you put them on your child you will see that they fit just wonderfully and are meant to have a more snug fit. Scott walked Riley over to the edge of the water and this time his sent out a screech. was loud! There was NO way he was going into the water.

I think the Imse Vimse Swim Diaper will last longer as there are no velcro closures and it is better for an older baby/child who might be curious enough to try to "strip". The Bummis is more ideal for a newborn to infant right before they realize there is velcro to play with. So essentially our experience with swim diapers had no water action (LOL!) involved but at least I now know how each on fits!

This summer have fun at the beach, pool, or at my house--the bath tub!!!

The Swim Diaper Trials

I had one swim diaper that I got when my oldest started getting on the water at 6 months old to save money. I would always use that diaper under her bathing suit (it wasnt cute enough to be uncovered), and when I needed, I would use disposables swimming diapers... By that time, I was a full time disposable diaper user, which Im 100% was because nobody ever mentioned me cloth diapers...

That same cloth swim diaper was used by my second daughter, and then my third daughter. However, it was not working fine with my third daughter. My first two daughters were very chubby, however my youngest is very skinny... It was too bulky to put it under her tiny bathing suits, and it was too ugly to use it by itself (Ok, I have to be fair, it was not *that* ugly... I just think that it may have looked better on a boy).

Anyway, I was planning a weekend away, plus a 7 days vacations the following week with my hubby and girls, so I decided to order a couple of Imse Vimse swimming diapers from Kelly’s Closet and get a top for them.. .They looked soooo cute that I didnt want to cover them!!

We decided to get a solid red and a Turquoise Sea Animals, both in size large. My daughter is very skinny and very petite. As she was 23 pounds, I decided to go with the large size. When I first got them I thought they were soooooooo small that wouldnt fit her. I was wrong!! They not only fit her, but Im also 100% sure that the medium size would have been better for her. Im sure the large size would be perfect for a chubby 23 pounder, but if you have a very skinny child like mine that is 23 pounds or under, you may want to consider the medium size.

My middle girl is also petite but chubby. She was around 32 pounds, and even though she is already potty trained, I decided to try the Imse Vimse swimming diapers on her, and they actually fit her. I would still have gotten an Extra Large for her if she needed one, but the large size still fit.

Both of my daughters were very comfortable on their swim diapers, and even though I didnt want to cover them, they are trim enough to cover them... Even with a tiny swimming pant....

I also wanted to mention that they dry VERY fast, however I dont think it would have been that easy with only one diaper... We managed just fine with two, but I think three diapers would have been just perfect.

ImseVimse was founded in 1988 by Marie Walleberg, who came up with the idea of producing cloth diapers when she had her second baby girl, who was suffering from a severe diaper rash.
ImseVimse offers a wide range of washable diapering products: diaper covers, contour diapers, all-in-one diapers, training pants, sanitary pads, nursing pads, blankets, bibs and of course swim wear for babies. We use a very soft, stretchy, yet durable PUL fabric to keep our products leakproof. We also do our best to encase the waterproof layer inside the fabric as much as possible in order to attain the softest touch possible while and keep cotton in contact with the skin. Several years ago we decided to use only certified organic cotton in all of our products as well!

The head office for Imse Vimse operates out of Visby, Sweden in Europe. Visby is actually situated on the island Gotland and is a very old and beautiful city from the medieval age. ImseVimse offers healthy, high quality baby products for conscious families around the world.

ImseVimse Swim diapers

Your child can move more freely in the water thanks to the very soft and smooth elastic ImseVimse uses around the waist and legs on our swim diapers. ImseVimse Platinum Awarded swim diapers consist of two layers of soft fabric; one is leakproof in case of accidents and a stretchy bathing costume fabric on the outside. Snap fastenings on the side make the diaper easy to pull on and take off, even when wet! We also provide a wide range of cute and colorful prints! Prefer a swimsuit? Add an optional Tankini Top for girls. With the ImseVimse water shoes you will have a non-slip protection by the pool too!

Here are the ImseVimse Swin Diaper Prints available at Kelly's Closet... We also carry solid blue and solid red.

My girls were estatic when I won Fluff Friday! They could not believe soon they would have some cloth diapers for their baby dolls. It took them a while to decide which patterns to choose. But I knew they would want one diaper in the monkey print because I bought a burp cloth from a WAHM in the same print! The bumble bee and a flower print were the other diapers they decided on. Denai, from Sew in Love, is awesome to work with and the diapers turned out fantastic!

Obviously my daughters get their indecision from me! It took me a couple of weeks to decide what to spend my Kelly's Closet gift certificate on. I finally decided on a Soft Bums in light pink with the microfiber inserts. I can not believe how small it can be and how trim it is...absolutely amazing! I love the diaper and hope to add more to my stash in the future! Thank you, Kelly's Closet for a great blog with really cool giveaways!

Here is a photo of a bumGenius, Happy Heinys, and Fuzzi Bunz in one stack and 1 SoftBums with three inserts for bulk comparisson:
