I coupon so I can get disposables for about two dollars a pack which kills alot of the money savings from cloth. I use cloth not for the savings but for the health of my baby.

Beth said...

I would be spending around $48 a month on sposies. I haven't done the math on my cloth diapers stash. But I know we are saving so much more $$$! We want more children too :) So its really going to pay off in the long run.

If I cloth diapered my twins full time, it would probably save me $100/month.

Gulp!

Off to hide the disposables again, and pull out the cloth.

Right now with our part-time CDing we are saving about $15 or $20 and soon, when we go full-time, we'll be saving about $40/month! That is SOOOO worth it to me. Not to mention my house smells better and I'm not stuffing all that yucky trash into landfills!

Christina's Cookies said...

With two kiddo's (DS #1 still in diapers at night) I would say we are saving roughly $40-60 a month depending in what brand we were to get. DH LOVES not having to fork that $$ out all the time!

I plan on having 4 children. That could be a lot of disposable diapers and a lot of money!!! That is why we chose cloth diapers! If you have a good start-up investment and take very good care of your cloth diapers-following the washing instructions, etc., I would say a couple thousand when all is said and done!!!! Convinced yet?!

we have saved about 200 in the last 2 1/2 months but we barely have enough to last us a day and because of that have still had to occasionally buy disposables which my son breaks out really bad from in fact he has a bad rash right now because we ran out of cloth

marcylein said...

Facebook follower...I'm working on getting a cloth diaper set going...but due to our limited military income it is hard. We are a eco-friendly household...and are really wanting to switch to CD's for our little one. Its better for her...the earth...our budget.... Its just hard due to the up front funds needed, which is holding us back at the moment. I would love to win the Bummis Diaper Kit...to finally get use going on the right path. I estimate that we would save about $60 a month (inc. wipes/she is a heavy wetter). I cain't waite to get started...wish me luck, thanks. ;-)Read More

I haven't saved any money yet. I've been using a diaper service for the last three months. I costs $72 a month for diapers and covers and weekly pick up and drop off. I loved the service but it is getting expensive. I decided to give it a try and wash my own diapers. I'm staring out with 2 dozen prefolds and six covers. I spent about $100. I look to save about $20 a month vs disposables only because of inital cost of diapers and covers. I expect to use this size for about two to three months.

We currently spend $15 a month on disposables, and about the same a month on cloth diaper products (soap, covers, inserts, new dips) plus the $6 a month wipes (if I could break myself of the habit we could stop this cost). I figures if we did disposables all the time we'd be spending a good $50-60 more a month.

Well, having previously used sposies I know that between diapers and wipes I was spending about $100 / month based on 8 diapers / day. (Had to use specific brands due to her skin sensitivity and even then she still had a constant rash).

I don't cloth diaper yet, but I have a little one on the way and get most of my cloth diapers at consignment stores or I make them myself. I figure, especially in the early months, that we will save around $50-$60 a month. That is huge to us as money is very tight right now.

We save $40-$50/month using cloth. Our savings happened pretty quickly since almost all of our diapers were gifts or 'found' money ($ made at a yardsale where we got rid of unused items instead of $ from our actual budget.)

I think i invested about $300 in cloth diapers. I figure you spend about $50 on disposables a month. I have cloth diapered for 7 months now. So all my cloth diapering from here on out is free each month. I dont count laundry bc i do less laundry than when i used disposables (i had blow outs each time!). In the long run I think i will save well over $2000.
