I use Grandma El's diaper cream, actually, as well as Avalon organics. Both are wonderful for cloth diaper users and work for different sorts of rashes. I chose these products because I was so concerned about ruining my cloth diapers, and about treating Kidoodle's skin with harsh chemicals.

We don't use a lot of baby care products, because I don't like to use a lot of products on my baby πŸ˜‰ She has tendencies for {bad} diaper rash, and has a prescription cream for that, so that doesn't really count…

But we do use Badger Sunscreen! It works well – no sunburn all summer, and it comes in high SPF. Reasonably priced, considering it's all natural. Of course, harder to apply, but that comes with the deal. :)

I just use Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild castile soap mixed into water with a little essential peppermint oil for everything–wipe solution, shampoo, hand soap for the family. We've been using this system for 3 months and haven't used more than a tenth of one bottle, which comes to a total cost of $1! It's gentle enough for baby and keeps my poor over-washed hands from cracking.

I just use Johnson's shampoo and body wash. During the winter we were using some lotions, but with the advent of warmer weather and consistent use of cloth diapers, there's only an occasional need for that. Very rarely do we need diaper rash cream, it was a gift, and I hate using it because that means using a disposable, we only have a few hanging around the house, luckily the bigger sizes seem to last longer than the smaller ones did. I haven't had to go buy any more soap/lotion/creams, I still have a bunch tucked away on a shelf!

I use Burt's Bees mainly because it was the best that I knew about. I now know that there are much better washes, lotions and creams out there, but I haven't gotten to try any of them. My baby DD is almost 3 months old and we are searching for that perfect body wash for her super sensitive skin. We have to be really careful be she will break out is rashes super easily!

We use Badger Sunscreen – it makes our DD white with the zinc oxide, but it has a nice scent and I feel good about not using a chemical sunscreen on her at this point.

  219. austinmomtr said...

Tip for a new diaper product – a wet bag that hooks onto the outside of your diaper bag. When I pick up our DD from the sitter, I don't like putting the dirty dipes in the wetbag into my backpack that also has her bottles, etc in it. I would love the wetbag to hook onto the outside of my back pack.

I use Aubrey Organics for baby wash/shampoo/lotion. They have great ingredients and are a good price as well. For diaper cream I sometimes use pawpaw ointment, and I also tried another natural ointment which had great ingredients, but I think something must bother my daughter, because she gets redness when I use it. I found that plain old extra virgin olive oil works great as well!
