I wore my daughter in a Hotsling pouch from the time she was born until she was about 7 months–mostly when she was fussy, or I wanted to keep her close. I tried a Baby Bjorn but found it to be pretty uncomfortable. And now (my daughter is 13 mos.) we use a mei tai–mostly when we go hiking–that way either my husband or I can wear her–back or front. I will probably wear my next baby much more–I totally want to try the Moby…

Do I ever!! Why? Well, why not? No, seriously. I guess because it keeps her happy. Especially while I am busy cooking or something. Plus, it is a great way to get her to sleep at a hockey game. :) And really she just loves to be held and I love to hold her.

I want to be a baby wearing mama because it seems to allow for productivity while also allowing for mommy and baby closeness. What could be better?

I wore my niece around all the time before I moved away and got preggo. It was so easy and comfortable!

My husband and I both wear our baby around the house, the garden, the neighborhood, and out and about for errands. Sometimes we need free hands for cleaning and eating, and other times we need to give our arms a rest while carrying him around. We don’t have a stroller, so we rely on our homemade ring sling, homemade wrap, and Pikkolo.

YES! I absolutely wear my baby. The reasons why are many, and I continue to find new reasons. Wearing baby is so much more convenient than trying to get a stroller through tight store aisle. It doesn’t kill my back like trying to lug around a baby in a carseat (she just keeps getting heavier). We both enjoy it. It’s away to keep my little one close and still get some things done during the day. Etc., etc., etc.

I have two little girls under the age of two. My favorite time to wear the littlest one (age 5 months today!) is when we go grocery shopping. I wrap her securely to my body so the folks who generally love to grab her hands and cheeks to tell her how sweet she is can’t see her. Then, after thoroughly sanitizing the shopping cart, I place my 22month old in it and am set for a peaceful hour of shopping, baby asleep and un-tampered with on my chest, and big girl directing traffic from the cart. Love my wrap!!!

I wear my little man in a home made ring sling until he got super heavy, now if I wear him it’s usually in a front pack. Although I did pull out the ring sling and had him in it on my side the other day. He loves being in it and watching everyone :)

Wear my kid? Occassionally. The baby bjorn never worked out for us, so I got a sling. I probably should have got a ring sling, as the one I seemed a little big. Nonetheless, from about the time my daughter was 4 months old, I did occasionally wear her…at the zoo, at parties, etc. But I never wore her exclusively, like around the house or anything. I have looked into ero carriers and am considering one. My daughter just turned one, so I think I would get some use out of one at the zoo this summer, as well as for future children. Also, we would like to do some hiking, so some carrier that both my husband and I could wear would be nice.

I definitely wear my babies. When my oldest was a baby she hated being in her carseat, so as soon as we got to a store or where ever we were going, I’d put her in the front pack and away we’d go. She loved it.

I now have a Moby wrap, and I absolutely love it. It’s so snug and comfy! I use it daily for my 3 mo old nephew (I”m his sitter) and I’ll be using it much more for our new baby due in Nov….I’ll surely need all the hands free time I can get with 5 little ones in the house! Plus it’s so nice for baby to be close to Mom….it truly is the only place new babies want to be!

I used a Mei Tai carrier with my first baby. I loved that it kept her so close and I could cuddle her while we were walking or doing errands. Plus it was so much easier to wear her while shopping than trying to fit the carseat in the grocery cart or the stroller in a crowded mall. I really want to try a Moby for baby #2 coming this fall b/c I’ve heard such great things about them…

I wear my Impling in a Sleepy Wrap and love it. I do it because it’s only natural. I’d be carrying him anyway so why not have my hands free while I do it? We don’t have a stroller and never have – not even when our Elf (who is now six) was little – he was in a Maya Wrap (but I really hated the rings). Everywhere we go, I wear the Imp and people ooh and aah and tell me how they wish they’d had one when they had small children. My husband wears him, too.

My oldest HATED being worn, which made me sad. Luckily, #2 is a snuggle bunny. He’s probably in the sling more than he is out.

I used a moby style wrap (I make them, teehee) when he was itty bitty.

Once he could support his head better, I used the hotsling.

We use the mei tei carrier for our toddler when we’re at the farmer’s market and such…

I wore #2 when he was tiny b/c he fussy quite often. Now, we do it out of convenience (and the separation anxiety he’s going through…lol)

I wore my first son all the time in a Hotsling, we used it until he was a little over 2. He wasn’t a big baby, so it worked out, lol. My new little guy hates the Hotsling though, which really disappointed me because I bought a new one for him before he was born. He loves the Baby Bjorn though and is in it a large part of the day. Bad for me though because it kills my back. I’ve been looking at different carriers, trying to decide what to get. I’d narrowed it down to a Moby wrap or Mei Tei, so this would be the perfect week for me to win! I love wearing my baby and do it as much as possible.

A Moby awesome!!!! I have a Peanut Shell and a Hotsling, love them both. I bought it before my youngest was born and use it around the house so I can clean and she is getting held, always at the grocery store we have three kids and the boys go in the carts, and working in the back yard. 166. Yes, I love my slings! My son has developmental delays and loves movement. His therapists say it is good for his ‘vestibular’ system. I carried in it before I knew that information. I just love to keep him close. I have a homemade pouch sling that I carry him in when he’s trying to go to sleep (in cradle position) and I have a Moby that I use when he’s awake. I love them both. I also trialed a baby K’tan- but I was inbetween sizes and it didn’t work.

I have a Baby Bjorn that I use for my 6 month old. Passed down from her older sister. Didn’t use as much with the first baby, but now as a SAHM, I find carrying baby makes both of us happy. I can get stuff done, and she is comforted by being close to me. After learning about attachment parenting, I truly see the benefit to wearing your baby! I believe that it promotes security and comfort, and helps increase that bond you have with your baby. Good for Daddy’s too, to have that closeness….

I do wear my baby, but not as much as I want to/should/planned to. I hold him ALL the time, but since he wants to be in my arms then out to explore then come back, it’s just easier to hold him with my arms rather than get him in and out of a carrier of some sort. That said, I DO wear him sometimes while cleaning and when we’re shopping or something like that. I do it because I LOVE having him close and he loves to be close… good for bonding and security and all that. Plus, it makes things easier to be hands free :)

I wear our twins at the same time usually when it’s just me. I have a Kangaroo Korner adjustable pouch and a ring sling, wearing the twins is especially helpful when taking our preschooler into school, I don’t have to wheel in the big bulky double stroller. Almost as soon as they get in they fall asleep, it has been helpful when they are teething and can’t fall asleep as well. It is awkward to do some things but it works well for us.

I love baby wearing! All of my baby girls have had their time in a sling and then a baby bjorn. I bought a Slingling for DD#3 and love it! No adjusting, just put it over my shoulder and plop baby in!

We went out for Easter and I just had DD in it and she was so comfy and like PP noted, no nosy people touching her! Actually I had her in her stroller for the 2nd time (she is almost 5 months) at the mall and we both hated it! I thought it would be easier!

The baby bjorn that (thankfully) a friend loaned us never worked for me, so I bought a Peanut Shell sling. It works pretty decently, but I think the sizing may be a little off for me. I am all for baby wearing, I just haven’t found the right thing for me. My daughter is just over one now, but we want to do some hiking this summer, so I think I may get an ergo carrier. Of course, if I win this wrap, that would be awesome!

  297. Brinn said...

Well, I’ve used a variety of slings when I hold my niece and nephew – and they are so much more comfortable than the Baby Bjorn my husband prefers! I have a bad back, but I want to keep my baby close to me so they feel secure, and so I feel secure enough to have my arms free to push the stroller, or pick up the fallen pacifier! I’ve found the slings and wraps are far more comfortable on my shoulders and back than other carrier types. I’ve seen how it soothes my niece and nephew, and since I am expecting my first child this July, I am getting ready to stock up on all these goodies for myself! Plus, I have decided to cloth diaper, and I am so excited about that decision! Wish me luck!

We started the tummy to tummy, and eventually the kangaroo hold (which I love). I also purchased an ergo a few weeks ago and I love it. It take a little longer to put on than the sling but it the best for long walks. I wear him out of convenience and because he hates strollers. We get looks everywhere we go too, so it is an attention getter if you want it!

It seems he enjoys being closer to me when we are out and about. I use a sleepy wrap which is like a moby, and sometimes an infantino carrier (I don’t like that one but it is good when I am too lazy to put the wrap on. Although I can’t wear him for very long in the infantino as it hurts my back.)The first time I used the sleepy wrap my little one slept for 3 hours and I got a ton of stuff done around the house! We have a NoJo sling and it can be very uncomfortable after a while. I would like to try something that won’t put my spine out of alignment (has happened and is very painful to have back spasms!!!) Which is why I don’t carry my daughter as much as I used to or we both would like.

I have a zolo sling and an ergo baby. I love them both for different reasons. A quick sling to the doctors office vs a long walk in the hood or a hike in the ergo carrier.

I’ve been wearing my, now, 6 month old son from Day 1. We tried a Hotsling, but neither of us liked it so I purchased a Moby. We both fell in love with it and use it all the time. Seamus is a bit of a demanding baby and the Moby has certainly saved my sanity. I also love that I can put it on before leaving the house so I don’t have to fuss with it when we reach our destination. It is so comfortable and easy to use. I did purchase a much more expensive Mei Tai recently but I keep returning to the Moby. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Moby!

I wore my fist child since he was born. It seemed like an obvious choice. It made my life easier, and I could pretty much go anywhere and do anything. I nursed him wherever and whenever. He’s two now, and still love to be close to me. I use an Ergo just because he is heavier. I used the Ultimate Baby Wrap when he was born. I also had a pocket sling, and a ring sling. I’m pregnant again, and the Ergo is getting tough. I miss holding and carrying him. Now it is my husband’s job!

With my first daughter, I used the baby bjorn off and on, but I guarantee you that with baby #2 on the way and a 13-month old that will then be 20-months old under foot, I will be using a sling a lot in the coming months!

  392. Beth said...

I have 2 homemade ring slings and absolutely love them. They have been invaluable for shopping, traveling, and just getting little stuff down around the house. My daughter has been able to attend more church functions in the last year (1 year on Thursday) because she calms and is quite happy in them.

I wore my 2 older DD's & I currently wear my 3rd DD as well. It started out as necessity to enable me to get things done & tend to my baby's needs simultaneously, but the more I learned about the endless benefits, it became a way of life for both me & DH. Baby wearing led me to seek out other forms of attachment parenting, & our DD's practice it w/their baby sister, as well as their dolls.

So not only do I only have 5 weeks until #3 arrives and desperately crave a Moby wrap but I also have a 4 month old puppy that we are still trying to train not to jump. Today I was visiting with a friend that has a Mei Tei wrap and watched her with her 4 month old and my puppy and it seemed like a great combination, holding her infant high, having her hands free and still keeping our wild puppy down. A Moby Wrap would be great especially since I see myself being a great baby wearing mama than I have in the past.

Today I remembered that I like to wear my son because it makes doing seemingly simple things that aren’t anymore because of a baby- much easier! We checked into a hotel today and DH was at work so the babe and I had to get all of our luggage into the room. Of course you can’t travel light with a baby- so it was a lot! So I just put him in the carrier and was able to load, “drive,” and unload the luggage cart. Perfect!

I have a Peanut Shell, which I use very occassionally. I don’t think it was sized to me quite right (like I was between sizes) so I didn’t always feel that my daughter was very secure, especially when she was younger. However, when I carry her on my hip, it is much better. I actually need to get a new carrier (or sling, or wrap) because we want to do some hiking this summer and I want something that both my husband and I can comfortably carry our one year old in. I was thinking an Ergo, but now maybe a Moby as well.

I wore my son when he was a baby out of convenience (in a Bjorn), and then tried out a wrap when my daughter was born. What a difference!! I think I’m more of a wrap kind of mom, rather than a rigid carrier, because I *STILL* wear my one year-old girl whenever we go anywhere! We both love how snuggly we feel when we’re all wrapped up together – my daughter gets really excited when she sees me tie it on. And I love that it’s soft and washes – and dries – so quickly and easily.

Another reason I love wearing my baby is that I think it’s safer. I can have her close to me at all times, and there aren’t as many people breathing over her as there would be in a stroller (and no potential for her to be accidentally jostled by people’s bags or have things spilled on her either). And even in crowded indoor settings I can wear her and have her off the ground.

BUT, recently when he traveled with DD, he couldn’t stop singing its praises. He said that the carrier was a lifesaver in the airport….One pbm I have with the ergo is since it’s shared (and DH and I have diff body types) there’s always that adjustment time factor before I can put my lil one in it…The moby might be very handy in this regard.

I wore both of our kids when they were babies with a HOtsling & a Baby Bjorn. The Moby looks neat! I loved having my hands free and able to hold the babies at the same time!

I wear my baby because it feels right and it makes things easier! Today I will wash the diapers at the laundromat because we’re traveling with DH while he’s working out of town and when I wash diapers at the laundromat, I always wear my son so I can have both hands free when loading the yucky diapers into the washer without putting him on the gross laundromat floor. I don’t know what I’d if I didn’t wear him!

I have somewhat wore my daughter. I first had a baby bjorn that a friend lent me. I am so glad we didn’t get one for our shower because it didn’t really work out for us. I found it very uncomfortable and my daughter never seemed to really like it. Then I bought a Peanut Shell sling. By this point my daughter was too big to carry totally snuggled, like newborns are. We did the forward facing and in facing kangaroo hold, with varying degrees of success. I think the sling was a little big, so unless I was wearing a sweatshirt, it didn’t seem to fit right. I do bring it to the zoo for exhibits where we can’t bring the stroller in and wear my daughter on my hip. I need to get something different for hiking this summer. My daughter is one and I want to be able to go hiking. Plus, my husband would be able to wear a Moby wrap (not that he would.)

I wear my daughter (she’s 6 1/2 months) using an infantino front-to-back. My husband and I like to take nature walks, and I love to shop, so wearing her is often much more convenient than using a stroller – plus she likes being close to me :). I would love to use the Moby however, because I’ve heard great reviews about it and how comfortable it is….and the infantino kills my back and shoulders.

My first carrier was a snugli, which was awkward and uncomfortable! I then “upgraded” (so I thought) to a bjorn but it was no better! I am usually that mom carrying her baby (and often her toddler as well) on her hip because I hate strollers. After hearing so many wonderful testimonies, I am sold on trying a Moby wrap with baby #3. I may even have to get two since baby #2 still loves to be held!

I do wear my baby: when she was under 4 months old she had acid reflux and hated to be put down (because she was in pain!!) so I carried/held her a lot. The wrap was really great for eating dinner at friends houses and such because she would be so content to just snuggle in and go to sleep and I still had TWO hands free to cut my own food!

  614. I love to wear my baby becuase then I don’t have to push a stroller. I feel much more free.

I am a little late on entering this give away, but hopefully not too late. I used a Native Carrier/sling with my daughter. She was a little peanut that arrived four weeks early. She loved to be carried around and be snuggled in close. I used the Baby Bjorn a little bit with my son, but he wasn’t very into it and would rather be held than in a carrier. Who knows how this third baby will be. :)

My daughter was a baby who I could never put down and have stay asleep, so she spent most of her naps in a sling…that way I could still get something accomplished while she slept.

I like to wear my baby because it keeps her close to me but my hands free. And she loves being held!

But does anyone ever feel like baby is in the way in front? With the one shoulder sling, I often feel like I can only use one hand efficiently, and now that she can reach for things, baby always wants to grab at what I am doing.

I like the idea of the Moby or the Ergo so I could wear her on the back and keep her out of the way and out of harm (like when I’m at the stove!). Great giveaway! I would love to win!

  631. Kelly said...

I have occassionally worn my daughter, but not nearly as much as I would have liked to. The sling I used was probably a little big, so it hurt my back after a while, as did a baby bjorn. My daughter is one now, so I she doesn’t need to be carried as much, but I do need something for the zoo and some hiking we would like to do this summer. I am thinking a Moby wrap or an ergo carrier.

I have attempted to “wear” my children in the past with one type of sling or another to no avail. The contraptions I bought were just too uncomfortable. However, I believe in AP so I just end up carrying them around the house and don’t get much done otherwise. Seeing that this is my 4th child, I have no choice but to find some other means of carrying my sweet baby around while I care for my other kiddos, and a Moby looks like it would be just the ticket! Thank you for the chance to win this awesome mama must-have!

My 10week old baby is still worn pretty much 50% of the day and occasionally I still wear my 2yo. My 4yo isn’t as excited about it anymore. I wear my babes because it is so beneficial. The comfort to the baby, bonding, etc., as well as being able to get things done, have two hands, etc.
