Question: What are the biggest challenges you’ve found when it comes to cloth diapering? I’m just preparing to use cloth with our next child (due in February) and it would be helpful to know what some of the speed bumps might be and how to overcome them. I can already tell that at this point, trying to choose between the MANY options for cloth diapering seems overwhelming but I figure that I’ll be able to make better choices once I see how various types of diapering work with our newborn.

OOOH I love cloth diapers, but I want to know if you can tell me the best way to organize them? I know random, but my system isn’t working. I have a 2 year old and a 7 month old in cd’s and I have no good system.

    my question:
what is the BEST way to care for cloth diapers? when should I wash them? What detergent should I use? Does using a diaper sprayer make the diapers cleaner in the end? Ok, that was more than one question, but I guess I just really want to know more about diaper care.

I am new to cloth diapers and am actually expecting my first package from you tomorrow full of diapers! WOO HOOO!!! The question I'd like to know is… where in the world do you store your diapers & cloth wipes so that it's convenient?? We live in a townhouse (that's for sale) so we can't just lay stuff around right now and the changing table is in storage. The CDs take up more space than the disposables, so I am not sure where/how to store them so that they're not in the way.. out in the open… or just looking like a mess on the counter!! :)

I’d like a post dedicated to pre-folds. They’re supposed to be so easy and well-known but I think they’re not. My youngest is three months and over 15lbs and I just can’t get the diapers on him properly (using a velcro cover rather than snappi). When I following folding directions online, he leaks. When I wing it, it’s way too bulky.

For example, BGOS and HHOS claim to fit birth through PLing, but because BGOS is trimmer than HHOS, they fit newborns better, but can be outgrown before potty-learning…and HHOS don’t fit smaller newborns, but fit my 37lb toddler!

I’d love to see a post about the fabrics used for making diapers- I have some old AIOs that have holes and cracks in the PUL fabric, so I’m thinking of cutting them apart and creating contoured prefolds for DD#3’s newborn days… but what to put on the outside??? Maybe some flannel?

  198. Question: I’ve been cloth diapering my now 7 month old since she was about 3 months old. We use the BumGenius 3.0s. She keeps getting a terrible diaper rash. I strip the diapers often but can’t seem to keep her little bum free from a rash. What else could be causing it? Thanks!

Is it more of a personal preference? I already have some hemp soakers that were given to me, so I know will be using those. Just wondering if I should also invest in some microfiber as well.

I feel like there is so much conflicting information regarding how to best care for your CD’s. When I ordered my BG OS 3.0’s from Cotton Babies they advised to use bleach once per month in the stripping process. Then I ordered 2 BG OS 3.0 from Kelly’s Closet and I received a pamphlet with them advising to avoid bleach. So, which is it? I want these diapers to last as long as possible…hopefully even with my 2nd baby.

For sized pocket diapers, how long would you estimate they last? In other words, how many children do you think they could be used for? We’re due with our first baby in February and I’ve sewn up a bunch of XS,S,M,L dipes, and bought a bunch too. Ideally we will be able to use them for the next couple babies too. Just was curious approx how many kids they’ll last through.
    Thanks!

Wednesday comment and question/topic suggestion: Any advice on transitioning from cloth diapers to using the potty? Does using cloth diapers get kids more familiar with “feeling wet” than disposables? Does it encourage them to use the potty quicker? I have a 2.5 year old that has been in disposables but I am expecting and hoping to use cloth on the new baby. Would switching the toddler to cloth now make potty training easier or not make a big difference? Just curious. I’d love to get this kid potty trained asap and I’m so sick of buying dispoables! Thanks for any tips!

Are business owners doing anything to prepare for the changes or is there anything we can do as customers to support our favorite companies/stores? I am nervous that some of my favorite online businesses (like Kelly’s Closet, etc.) will have to shut down due to the new laws/regulations – and just at the moment when I’ll be needing to purchase more diapers for my new baby!
